Holy smokes its been awhile and then some! Well time to fire this old girl back up. For something new this time, travel journal! I love my road trips and traveling so why not share right?
My girlfriend Melissa (as of 2 years and a bit now) has been living in Vancouver taking Dental Hygiene for the past 9 months so it has provided me with a number of road trips out that way which I am truly grateful for!
So here we go, the most recent one. Just got back 2 days ago.
Day 1...
We have been swamped at work lately so after getting in at 6am working til 5pm it was time to hit the road!
Full tank of gas and car loaded I was on the road, first up massive overpass going in on the south side of the city. It was easier to build the overpass, then realign the highway under it. Will be tying into one of our developments to the west after.

41 Avenue Overpass being constructed South of Edmonton! |
I love being on the open road, feels so nice and relaxing - can just get away from it all as the miles disappear under my feet. Even better with this in front of me!
It was a perfect day to be on the highway, traffic was decent nothing to crazy so I made some pretty good time. Got to enjoy a nice sunset along the way as well! But after about 3 hours of driving, the straight highway does tend to get very boring!

So Straight..... |
|
Love the clouds and sky we get in Alberta, always changing! |
|
Always a fun shot to get, hand out the window and snap away - Melissa hates when I do this. |
|
Amazing shot of the sun breaking through the tree's, Was very lucky to get this shot while driving down the highway! |
From here I continued on past Calgary into the rockies and the darkness, nightfall comes so much quicker now that it did just a few short weeks ago! The driving continued til around 1:00am local time (2:00am depature time) when I arrived at my sisters in Vernon for my first stopping point! It was a long drive, which I have done many a few times, but still enjoy each even if it does get a little tiring near the end!

Into the darkness! Thank goodness for HID's |
Suppose to finish off the day 1 post I should provide some update, life has been incredible these last few years, feels like time is flying by - which is kinda scary in itself. But exciting at the same time. I have such amazing people around me, friends, family and a wonderful girlfriend. I couldn't be happier. Hope you all enjoi my new travel journal posts moving forward! Day 2 to follow.
Day 1 Total Distance Approx. 840km!
Enjoi the drive.
